Stephen M. Irwin is a screenwriter and novelist.
Stephen’s early work was in writing broadcast television documentaries. This broadened to include writing and directing award-winning short films, and authoring several published short stories.
His debut novel – supernatural thriller The Dead Path– was published in many countries and named Top Horror Novel 2011 in the American Library Association’s RUSA Reading List. His second novel, The Broken Ones,was listed by Kirkus Reviews among the 100 Best Fiction of 2012.
Stephen was creator and writer of Australian crime drama series Secrets & Lies, made originally for Australia’s Network Ten and remade in the USA for ABC, starring Juliette Lewis.
His other writing credits include feature Australia Day (FOXtel), and miniseries Wake in Fright (Network Ten). Stephen is co-creator and head writer of ten-part forensic crime drama Harrow, starring Ioan Gruffudd, and of the Netflix series Tidelands, the entertainment company’s first Australian production.
Stephen continues to work with Australian and international creatives on new television projects. He lives near Brisbane with his two children and a keyboard-loving cat.
Stephen is developing film and television projects for studios and networks in Australia, the UK, and the USA.
